FAQs

Yes, it is absolutely suitable for beginners. The questions about prior experience are solely for statistical purposes and will not affect the selection process. The tests and hackathon will not assess IT knowledge but rather your problem-solving approach, attitude, and motivation.
However, all students without prior experience must complete certain programming-related courses before the program begins to ensure a smoother start.

Applicants must be located in the Baltics or have a connection to Latvia and must hold at least a high school diploma. A computer with a working webcam and a stable internet connection is required, along with proficiency in English. Attendance at mandatory on-site events is also required. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate a strong work ethic, the ability to deliver results, and high motivation to succeed in the program.

For the full-time program, expect to dedicate approximately 40 hours per week to learning. You will be required to attend both virtual and on-site meetings, including daily stand-ups, live coding sessions, coding collaboration sessions, and guest lectures. These meetings, ranging from 20 minutes to 2.5 hours each, are included in the estimated weekly time commitment.

There are no professors or instructors, but a program manager, who will act as your coach, supporting your self-paced learning through projects, exercises, and guidance in the tech module. You are responsible for your own learning, similar to a real job. Additionally, Discord channels and opportunities to connect with peers on our on-site campus will be available for support.

The program has 50 fully funded spots for top applicants whose tuition is covered by industry sponsors. Additionally, there will be 50 half-funded spots for the next 60-70 students who can join the program by paying 50% - €2,500 of the tuition fee of €5,000.

Yes, the program is open to international students as well as Latvians living abroad. However, there will be mandatory on-site events, so occasional travel to Latvia will be required. Yes, we are located at Startup House Riga. However, the program follows a hybrid model, and on-site study opportunities are limited due to a restricted number of workspaces, therefore not all 100 students will be able to study on-site at all times. To manage this, we use a seat booking system, ensuring fair access to available spaces.

The program is designed to cover both programming and business development in depth, as these areas complement each other. Regardless of your primary interest, participation in both modules is required.
Understanding business fundamentals helps programmers build products that are market-ready, while technical skills empower startup founders to develop and iterate on their ideas effectively. You should apply with an open mind, be willing to step outside your comfort zone, and embrace both aspects of the program for a well-rounded learning experience.
